Nick George (Epsom, 1964) began his career as a paste-up artist and studied at the Berkshire College of Art & Design. He later qualified as a teacher from the University of Reading and went on to teach Art in state schools. He retired early from his role as School Atelierista to focus on his own art practice. Now based in Dorset, he works both in his studio and his local woods and forest.

For many years he painted landscapes, predominantly in oils, but in the past year has aligned his work with his ethical and environmental understanding. He is interested in the interrelationship between people and nature, particularly trees, and recent explorations have resulted in three-dimensional installations made with repurposed tree-based products. He was a member of Newlyn School of Art’s 2025-26 Professional Landscape Artists’ Programme and exhibited early pieces of his new direction at their end-of-year exhibition at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens
